MILES is the acronymn for Multi-Purpose Indian Langauge Evaluation System. It has been developed in order to provide insights to the teachers of all Indian Languages in the process of constructing tests for various purposes at different levels of education starting from Primary to Research. In order to develop MILES a database consisting a variety of question items have been developed and each one of them is equipped with 10 parameters and included in the Item File Card format. This would also help the educational administrators maintain quality control across the language and literature courses. Further details in this regard may be obtained from Introductory part of the materials brought out under the MILES series by the Central Institute of Indian Languages. NTS is the acronymn for National Testing Service, India which is a new scheme created by the Govt. of India, MHRD (Language Division) to meet a variety of specific requirements of testing and evaluation. This is more of an application based scheme to be directly useful for the central agencies for determining the quality for the purposes of funding and job recruitment. The only condition is that if you are applying for fellowship under Tamilnadu category, you should have studied Tamil at least up to +2 level incase you are from Technical areas, and upto degree level incase you are from Arts & Science areas. It is necessary that you should have a component on evaluation in your dissertation. Further details required will be provided in due course if you are selected by the committee for the fellowship.

Towards right side of each advertisement there is a date mentioned as 'Updated on 07/07/2010'. So the closing date for fellowship advertisement is 21 days from 07/07/2010. (28 days for the candidates from North-East region)
